About Saint Joseph the Worker

Saint Joseph of Nazareth, the foster father of Jesus Christ and spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was a carpenter by trade — a man who sanctified manual labor through his quiet, faithful dedication to his craft and his family. Pope Pius XII instituted the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker on May 1, 1955, to highlight the dignity of human work and to consecrate the labor of all workers to God through Joseph’s intercession.

He is the Patron Saint of workers, craftsmen, fathers, the Universal Church, and a happy death. His two feast days are March 19 (Saint Joseph, Spouse of Mary) and May 1 (Saint Joseph the Worker).

"Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments." — Psalm 112:1
